Anniversaries, weakness, and the nearness of death bring perspective. Hebrews 11:13–22 shows three patriarchs who “died in faith.” Isaac blessed his sons without knowing the specifics of how God would fulfill His word. Jacob leaned on his staff and worshiped as he blessed his grandsons. Joseph spoke about an Exodus that had not happened yet and asked for his bones to rest in the land of promise. Their lives were imperfect, but their end was clear. They entrusted themselves to God and left a spiritual inheritance that outlived them.
